I’ll never forget the helplessness I felt that night at 3 AM.

My son Reed’s piercing cry jolted my wife and me awake. We quickly turned to our baby monitor, which simply confirmed he was awake and distressed. But then something caught my eye—the room temperature reading 72°F. Instantly, I thought:

 

“Why can’t this thing tell me what I really need to know—Is something going on that I can't tell from video or audio only?”

 

Rushing into his nursery moments later, we found Reed hot to the touch. My heart sank when our thermometer confirmed a temperature of 103°F. Panic set in—how long had Reed's temperature been rising unnoticed? If only we had known sooner, we could’ve given him relief earlier, preventing hours of discomfort.

That sense of frustration and helplessness ignited a question that stayed with me:

 

“Why can’t a baby monitor provide insights into my child’s skin temperature—without wearables, without invasive probes, without waking him?”

 

Determined to find answers, I spent countless nights researching, consulting with pediatricians, and connecting with expert engineers. The vision was clear: Parents deserve better.

In 2024, backed by a passionate team, I founded Nonnanest. We worked tirelessly to create a device unlike anything parents had seen—a monitor capable of continuous, non-contact skin-temperature insights, secured without Wi-Fi dependencies, and designed specifically to respect a baby’s peaceful sleep.
