The SightAware nursery camera contains a proprietary infrared sensor array that reads surface skin temperature from up to four feet away, with nothing touching or attached to the baby. It works on the same principle as the no-touch thermometers used in pediatric offices. Skin temperature and room temperature are displayed on a dedicated 5-inch HD handheld parent unit, alongside live video, so parents get one calm layer of passive awareness while their baby sleeps.
The system runs on FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum), a secure wireless protocol that creates a direct, encrypted connection between the camera and the parent unit. The signal never touches the internet, and there are no cloud servers, accounts, or apps involved.
