Nonnanest founder Nathan Overbey designed the monitor after a personal experience with his infant son. The Nonnanest nursery camera contains a proprietary infrared sensor array that reads surface skin temperature from distances up to four feet, without anything touching or attached to the baby. The technology works on the same principle as the no-touch thermometers used in pediatric offices.
When skin temperature shifts outside a parent-set comfort range, the system delivers a gentle alert to the dedicated parent unit. Parents can view real-time skin temperature alongside the live video feed at any time, giving them one more layer of passive awareness while their baby sleeps.
Most modern baby monitors connect to a home WiFi network, store data on cloud servers, and require a smartphone app to operate. Nonnanest takes a different approach. The entire system runs on FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum), a secure wireless protocol that creates a direct, encrypted connection between the nursery camera and the parent unit. The signal hops across 80+ frequency channels per second, never touches the internet, and requires no accounts, no cloud storage, and no external servers.
